German developers, Hedd have given their Type range a sweet technical polish-up. Built to accommodate larger studio spaces, the HEDD Type 20 MK2, and not only in terms of size but in terms of performance, this three-way monitor sets you up with the solid foundation of a ribbon-tweeter, a 4-inch mid, and a 7-inch woofer that's less hefty and boasts a tighter response, especially since the 4-inch mid takes care of the entire mid-range, so the woofer isn't left bearing the load of anything that ribbon can't handle. The effect is especially apparent in the clarity with which vocals and speech are reproduced, but the overall phenomenon is actually extremely difficult to do justice in words.

Features of the HEDD Type 20 MK2

While the ribbon and woofers are definitely high-grade, they're not solely responsible for the superior performance of this monitor. The main feature of the MK2 is the added Lineariser. Since small phase differences in specific frequencies can cause subtle yet unwanted peaks and dips, this smart function essentially cleans them up, leaving perfect sound.
